Professional legal services can be difficult to access in a foreign country. Not every legal professional can, or will want to, deal with foreigners.
I’ve created this page as a reference list of legal services I am aware of in the Czech Republic who offer their services to foreigners, or specialise in assisting them.
I will add to this page when I learn of more services of this type.
This list is for informational purposes only, I have not used the services of any of these agencies and do not recommend one over another:
Realitní Advokáti s.r.o. – This is a Prague-based real estate law firm providing services such as due diligence, escrow arrangements, and property purchase assistance in both Czech and English. The firm’s website includes a well-maintained blog that offers valuable insights into real estate matters in the Czech Republic.
Petyovský & Partners – This is a legal firm that specializes in immigration and other services for foreigners, as well as services for employers of foreigners in the Czech Republic. They have offices in Brno and Prague and their website is bilingual between Czech and English. Their website also includes a newsfeed with useful information about changes in immigration policy and other relevant subjects for foreigners in the country.
Czech Visa Lawyer – This is a Brno based firm that assists both foreigners and employers of foreigners in the Czech Republic with work visas and employee cards. They also offer more complex services in relation to immigration law. Outside of Brno, they have offices in Prague and Ostrava. Their multilingual website is available in Chinese, Czech, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese.
Expat Law – This is a Prague based firm that specialises in legal services for foreigners. They can advise you in family law, labour law, inheritance, real estate law, construction law, and a range of other legal matters. Their website is in English and includes a useful blog that contains information about updates to Czech law that can affect foreigners.
Ombudsman – The obudsman, or public defender, for the Czech Republic is based in Brno. If you are experiencing some form of discrimination or other unfair treatment, they have officers that can advise you in Czech or English. If you do not speak Czech or English, they have contacts to translator services that can help bridge the language gap and allow them to assist you in another language. While they are based in Brno, they help people across the country. Their website is bilingual between Czech and English and has a useful newsfeed section with regular updates of the office’s activities and services.
